hey Jeremy

i just read your note again. sorry i left out something.

find me the dictionary definition you found.

you know every dictionary is online right?

find the link. i must just be missing it.

send it to me.

and so you know, free speech also gives me the right to say what i am saying.

i did not stop the show. i just asked a band with an offensive name not be on it. i would not share a stage with a band with that name and feel it is a very disrespectful name. i was not trying to stop the show. why would i say i will play it and then try to stop it? i am not in the habit of booking gigs and then trying to stop them.

terri and neil made a mistake. quite sure they are aware of it. why do you think they are stopping it? the last thing they want is bad press. they put a band called the fuck ups on a katrina benefit bill. that is going to get press. duh! they put that band on the bill, not i. i was not going to play on a show with a band with that name. i have that right. i never said kill the benefit. i was even doing everything in my power to have a killer tripfuse show. i was in the process of getting guys to play. and anyone who can learn 7 tunes in 3 days, isn't fooling around. i don't know if you know much about me. but i don't fool around. not about my music and not about what i believe in. don't you think it a bit odd, a project i started in 2002 and a live band i have had together for a year and a half falls apart over this. or did you know that? have you read anything about this issue and what is going on? did you even visit our sites and read what is up? how can you just place the blame?

doesn't it tell you something if HM is afraid to do the show? oh, you say how do i know they are afraid. well what else would it be? too much media attention? geeze i was always under the impression media attention was something all bands and small business wanted. and if you think it is because this is bad media. please explain to me why it is bad media?

do you think that just because tripfuse and the fuck ups aren't on the bill there would be no money made? were we bringing all the people?

if you guys had people coming and the other 5 bands (there were a total of 7 bands on the bill) had people coming, it seems to me a great benefit could still have been had.

you think two relatively unheard of bands dropping off a bill made that much of a difference. bands drop off bills every single night. how long have you been playing out? we played in kent a couple weekends ago, one band got lost the other just showed up and decided they didn't want to play that particular place and left. what the fuck is that? was the show cancelled with only two bands left. NO.

did you write to terry or call and say you think the show should still go on? that it will still be great? did you call and ask why the show is trashed? i mean really ask why the show is trashed. not just because tripfuse fucked it up. because we didn't fuck it up.

i was not trying to mess up this benefit. i really was not. i feel bad the benefit got messed up. i was looking forward to raising more money. and we will continue to play other benefits (presuming no other idiots put a katrina benefit show on with a band named that repulsive, completely offensive name)

hey i have an idea for you. all seriousness.

call the naacp. here is the cleveland number.

216 231-6260

you call and ask them if it is ok that a band called that play a katrina benefit. ask them if you think the black people of new orleans would appreciate the money anyway. ask them.

do not reply, until you have the dictionary definition link and you have called them. someone will pick up right away and they are friendly. well unless you start the conversation with ' what's up n word'.

and i might also warn you to be careful how deep you get into this issue. we are an anti racist band. fight us if you wish. but just know that this is just starting. i hope you don't think i stopped at the local branch of the naacp. that was not meant as a threat but just that this isn't going away because of this show and be sure you want your band in the middle of it. this is a heavy issue. and you certainly don't want to go in IGNORANT.

ps. and if you had read anything i have already posted, you would have read i did speak with the members of that band a bunch and their so called manager. i believe a total of 6 or 7 emails both ways. and the naacp has a copy of all if you would like to talk further about the topic with them. go ahead, educate yourself. it won't hurt.
