This is Frank from Silence of a Silhouette. I'd just like to congratulate you fellas for successfully alienating us, a host of other bands and our paying fans who were looking forward to seeing the show and contributing to a good cause. Also, nice job on giving the Niggers exactly what they wanted when they intentionally named their band as they did: a shitload of pointless attention.

Worst of all, your ridiculous, and misguided white liberal guilt has cost the relief effort a substantial sum of money, money they desperately need. Let me ask you a serious question. Do you really think the people affected by the hurricane, who are homeless, penniless, and devastated, really give a shit that some dumbass gutterpunk band named The Niggers (that weren't even mentioned in any publication) tried to raised them money that they needed? If you were in such a dire situation, do you think you would turn it away on some half-hearted, cliché, and overanalyzed principle?

Finally, while claiming to be anti-racist, you have successfully lumped the black people of New Orleans into the very definition of the word you seek to discredit, by association. It was you who pointed out the supposed "irony" of the situation, and have thereby associated the use of the word with the people of New Orleans. Language is a tool, and is defined by our usage of it. Through this fiasco, you have only continued to add to the negative controversy of the word, instead of simply ignoring it and letting it die.

ok. here we go again. what is with this band? do you guys never get to play shows? are you not able to get on another benefit? did you think this was the only benefit? that this particular group of bands (btw did you know 3 were not planning on doing it anyway, nothing to do with this issue) were to raise all the remaining money needed for katrina victims.

and let me ask you this Frank. did you give personally?

you asked "Do you really think the people affected by the hurricane, who are homeless, penniless, and devastated, really give a shit that some dumbass gutterpunk band named The Niggers (that weren't even mentioned in any publication) tried to raised them money that they needed? "

yes. absolutely.

call the naacp.

216 231-6260

this will be the third time i have given this number to some member of your band (or mother).

call it for fuck sake. why are you all so afraid to learn anything new?

yes, yes, yes. the people of new orleans care. it is a disgrace. we have had nothing but praise from the black community thus far? not that we are looking for praise. we are just doing what is right.

i can't stand this ignorance. if you can't see what we did was right, then you are almost as messed up as the band that named themselves that.

call the naacp.

ask them if you think what tripfuse did was right? ask them to explain.

and your last paragraph, whatever the fuck that was. the majority of the people that were unfortunate to lose everything in new orleans are black. period.

because i said that i am a racist? is that what you meant?

those are the facts.

what the FUCK are you talking about?

please explain that to me.

i did not kill this show. HM killed the show. i merely asked that a band with an offensive name be removed from the bill.

and so you know, i found out about this by finding a flyer on myspace with that name on it. and even if that was the only one that is enough for me. besides i know it was not the only one.

and one more thing.

you said "Through this fiasco, you have only continued to add to the negative controversy of the word, instead of simply ignoring it and letting it die."

ignore it. right. that is the answer. the best way to solve problems, ignore them. i wonder if that will work with my car. there is this strange knocking. or what about that lump in my breast? should i ignore that?

is that how you solve all your problems?

you cannot pretend it doesn't exist. it does. and it is a problem. and will only get better if people talk about it and stand up for what they believe. i am standing up for what i believe. i am bummed the show got trashed but am happy that this band has come to my attention. and 6 others with the same name. can you say hello teague.

and do you think playing a show with a band with that name is ignoring it?

no.

it is sad man. sad that you are mad at me. sad that you would even consider playing a show with a band with that name. let alone a katrina benefit.

we played last night as an acoustic duo because my band fell apart over this. i spoke to the crowd. i explained what has gone down this past week. afterwards, we were asked to play two shows. one which will be a benefit.

now if you guys can grow up a bit, we will try to get another benefit together and do it right. however if you continue to write crap and tell me this is my fault then i hope you know what you are doing. cause this is by no means over.

teague

ps. and so you know, i did not bring GOOD attention to the n word band. they don't know what they are doing. we have exchanged many emails. i heard them out. i thought about it. it was wrong. period. they will not play a show again until they change their name.
